Debossing presses the design down into the board, leaving a recess that catches shadow along its edges. Because there is no ink or foil involved it reads as quiet and confident - the mark is felt before it is seen. It works best on heavier calipers (18pt and up) where the board has enough thickness to take a deep, crisp impression without distorting the reverse side.
